This Wednesday or Thursday, resign from your position as your store’s principal.
WHY? A break from the day-to-day routine of running your store will give you the distance needed to take a good, hard look at how things are done and what can be improved.
HOW? Tell your staff you’re quitting your current position and will be back on Monday as the newly hired CEO. If it hasn’t been done yet, write a business plan, study your marketplace, the competition, demographics, location (and alternatives), merchandise, price-points, opportunities and problems. Do it all!
