Jewelry Store Owner Shoots Robber
Thief ripped necklace off jeweler's 4-year old granddaughter.
The Chicago Police Department said 19-year-old Musa Thomas walked into a West Rodgers Park jewelry store with a gun, and ripped a necklace right off the neck of the owner’s 4-year-old granddaughter — possibly in an act of frustration over the lack of valuables as the store's safes were already empty. Then the store owner turned the tables, pulling a weapon and firing at the robber to protect his wife and granddaughter. Thomas allegedly got only $11 from the cash register, as well as a few pieces of jewelry, and was hospitalized after being shot. The haul doubtfully was worth the time in jail he is now facing.
