Research shows that 75 percent of people conduct research online when shopping for a luxury product. Therefore, it’s essential for every jewelry store to have a website that represents its brand.

Collected Concepts CEO Nick Failla offered 10 considerations about a store website:

  1. The look: Find 5 sites you like and 5 you don’t
  2. Content management system: You need to be able to make simple changes and updates to the site yourself.
  3. Copy: Must be engaging, succinct and targeted; utilize the “Learn More” button when going into depth.
  4. Easy navigation: consistent, obvious, minimal and clear; five to seven items across the top menus.
  5. Photos and videos: Don’t worry about video quality. A Youtube-quality video testimonial will be seen as more authentic than a professionally produced video.
  6. Active communication: e-mail, blog, live chat, redirect to social media.
  7. Data capture: Get people’s e-mail addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
  8. Browser compatibility: Must be compatible with all major browsers.
  9. Speed: Get rid of Flash.
  10. Search engine optimization: Hire a professional service for this.
