Implementation Is Everything When Home

In the final day’s keynote address at the SMART Jewelry Show, Monster of Sales Jim Ackerman left his audience with a piece of advice we can all use upon returning home from a trade show:

Don’t let your urgencies get in the way of your priorities.

At any show or training seminar, we pack our heads full of great stuff to use in our businesses, and then when we get home, what do we do? We likely start putting out all the little fires that flared while we were away.

According to Ackerman, of all that stuff we learn in seminars and at trade shows, from only 1.4 percent to 8.4 percent ever gets implemented. So, upon your return from the SMART Show — or Conclave, or Las Vegas — block out one hour of your first day back to go over everything you learned. Then block out 30 minutes each day thereafter to implement your new ideas.

You’ll be amazed at the results.
