How Did Your First Attempt to Make a Sale Go?

I'm betting that not everyone's first sales attempt was super smooth.

My first sale was when I worked at Famous Footwear as a 16-year old. A man was about to purchase a pair of $100 Nikes and I talked him out of it, instead convincing him to purchase a pair of $65 Adidas shoes that I felt were more comfortable. I don't feel bad about it because I was right — though I'm sure the store would have preferred I let the customer purchase the Nikes at nearly double the price.

Kind of a tame story on my end, so I'd like to hear from you guys. I'm betting there are quite a few of you that have some fantastic stories about your first experience selling jewelry.

So for this week's Participation Friday topic, INSTORE wants to know ...
